School Age Programs


Most Grange Hill East Neighbourhood Group School Age activities are free, drop-in programs. Others require registration and a nominal fee.  Programs are not offered during school breaks and holidays. Emergency cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page: Grange Hill East NG


Basketball Drop In (Toonie Tuesday)

Toonie Tuesday Basketball

When: Tuesdays. 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where: William Winegard School Gym. 25 Lee St., Guelph.
Who: Ages 7 to 16
Cost: $2.00 suggested donation

We are planning to start Oct. 7, 2025 – watch our socials for details. 

What to bring:
Water bottle, indoor running shoes, your own basketball if you have one (make sure you have your name on your ball and bottle)

Description

Bring your friends and join us to shoot some hoops, do some drills and play basketball. No experience needed. Friends will play with each other based on age to start, but we will also play a game together.

Cancellations: Cancellations align with elementary school and stat holidays. They include: 

  • Christmas Holidays
  • March Break
  • Toonie Tuesday will be cancelled with school shutdowns (e.g. due to severe weather). Please check our Facebook for notifications.

Brainfit Tutoring (United for Literacy)

When:

  • 2025 Fall Session – Wednesdays starting October 8 to November 26 (8 weeks)
  • 2026 Winter Session – Wed. Jan 28 -Wed. March 25 ( note: no program Feb 18 due to post-secondary Reading Week and March 18 due to March Break)
    Time: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    Where: Community Room, Ken Danby School
    Ages: Grades 2 to 5
    Cost: Free

Thursday Ping Pong and Foosball

Ping Pong and Foosball

Restarting October 9, 2025 and running until March, 2025. 

When: Thursdays. 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 
Where: Community Room, Ken Danby Public School, 526 Grange Rd.
Who: Recommended ages are grades 4-12.  Open to grade 1-3 (children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or child-care provider). 
Cost: FREE

Description

Come out to play! Join Kevin, Matt, and friends on Thursday nights to play table tennis and foosball. The focus of these free drop-in sessions is on having fun, learning new skills and getting lots of time in at the tables. All equipment is provided. We will complete the season in March with a tournament.
