Summer programming will run out of the Ken Danby Public School community room.

The program will run Monday to Friday (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). There will be an option of additional extended care for $25/week (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Camp pricing and payment methods

Each session will include around 25 campers and 6 Leaders in Training (LITs) per session.

To keep camp affordable, camp will cost $160 per week ($130 for the short week in August).

How to pay:

E-Transfer

    • Payments can be paid by e-transfer to info@gheng.ca. Payment is due is by the Friday of the week you submit your registration.
      • E-transfers must include the name of your child registered and the week(s) they are registered for in the message section.
      • If you have registered different siblings, it is easiest for us to process payments if you send separate e-transfers for each child.

Credit Card

    • Paying via credit card or debit is also an option. Credit and debit card users are subject to an additional $5 for each week of camp registered. This will help us recoup some of our costly payment processing fee costs.

Cash (in person)

    • Our camp staff are not equipped to handle cash. Cash payments (exact amount only) will be accepted by our Neighbourhood Support Worker in May and June during office hours (see below)
    • Should you wish to pay via Free to Grow (subsidy), please email your subsidy confirmation from the Children’s Foundation to info@gheng.ca.
    • In person payment times will be available on Tuesdays between 11:00 and 1:30 p.m. in our Ken Danby community room during May and June. Please contact info@gheng.ca/519-820-9576 to confirm your appointment.

Leaders in Training (11 to 14 years)

We have capacity for six leader in training positions for each week of camp. The cost is $60.00 to attend.

This year, LITs will have their own Leader and be able to participate in training activities on site.

What to bring/keep at home

You will receive a camp package prior to camp start via email.

Participants typically bring:

– 2 snacks and a lunch

– water bottle

– hat and sunscreen

– comfortable, closed-toe shoes

– change of clothing/extra clothes for water play

Please leave electronic devices at home

The school is peanut and nut-free

Consider registering for Grange Hill East's e-newsletter. We will send out more information as soon as it is available. We will also post more information via our Facebook page.

Can I register my children in the same week even though they are in different age categories?

Yes you can. Here is what you need to know: Siblings/friends of different ages are welcome to join each other in camp, even if they are older/younger than the suggested age category.

Please note: all programming will be geared toward the category listed.

Should you have an young child wishing to join their older sibling at a camp geared toward the 7-11 age group, we ask that the older sibling be prepared to offer a little extra support.

What are your guidelines for independence/toileting?

Our programming is not set up to accommodate children who have regular toileting accidents (beyond the occasional, and somewhat inevitable accidents).

All children registered must be able to recognize body cues and use the bathroom/change clothing when necessary without assistance.

Children must also be able to apply sunscreen by themselves.

What does a typical day include?

A typical day includes:

    • Outdoor field games
    • Craft time
    • Group activities/excursions to nearby parks
    • Water play
    • Breaks for snacks and lunch
    • Free play
We spend as much time as possible outside, but will have access to the community room for lunch/snacks and the gym for indoor games.

What are your cancellation guidelines?

In order to receive a refund (minus a $25 non-refundable admin fee), cancellations must be requested by June 7th, 2024.

Cancellations between June 1st and June 26th will receive a 50% refund.

Refunds will not be provided after June 26 (some exceptions will be made for extreme sickness on a case by case basis).

Where can I find the camp package?

At the moment, we do not have our 2024 camp package complete. You may view last year's 2023 package for an idea of what to expect.

What is your ratio of camp leaders to campers?

We have approximately 1 leader for every 8-9 campers.
